New Educational Video Series Available - Automatic Transfer Systems, Part 1 & Part 2 August 1, 2009
Schneider Electric announced the release of a new educational video series on its www.criticalpowernow.com Web site. The two-part series focuses on automatic transfer systems in a mission-critical environment. Automatic Transfer Systems (ATSs) Part 1 discusses the role of an ATS in addressing reliability challenges in data centers and other critical power environments. Automatic Transfer Systems Part 2 features Schneider Electric critical power experts profiling the important considerations to achieve automatic transfer higher in the system.
“An important requirement of mission-critical power systems is automatic operation,” says Greg Wessels, product manager of Schneider Electric’s Data Center Solutions. “The rapid and reliable transfer of the system from one power source to another during certain system events is crucial to achieving your reliability goals for the system and the facility it serves. The role of the ATS is often considered less important than many other aspects of the overall power system design, which compromises data center reliability.”
When properly designed and implemented, ATSs provide a vital function in reliable power system operation. Working in conjunction with alternate power sources and UPSs, an ATS helps to ensure critical system loads receive the reliable power they require to function.
Critical power experts from Schneider Electric’s Data Center Solutions team outline design considerations for automatic power transfer in mission-critical environments and discuss how they can be implemented to ensure power system reliability. The videos also focus on switchgear and switchboards, logic platform, circuit breaker controls, and user interface.
The videos are the latest in a new series of online educational videos being offered by Schneider Electric Data Center Solutions. The videos are posted on www.criticalpowernow.com and will serve as readily available educational references regarding various top-of-mind topics in the critical power industry. Additionally, the site features a Critical Power Technical Reference Repository, which contains video case studies, along with recently released and archived white papers and technical presentations categorized by multiple topic areas related to electrical reliability within data centers and other critical power environments.
